With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the community is mourning the tragic loss of Ashley Marie Hall, 36, of Des Moines, who was fatally shot early Friday morning, April 10, 2026.
According to the Des Moines Police Department, officers and first responders were called to the 3200 block of 30th Street at approximately 3 a.m. following reports of a shooting inside an apartment. Upon arrival, they found Hall inside the residence, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later determined that Hall had been shot with a pistol. Police confirmed that both Hall and another woman were guests at the apartment at the time of the incident.
Later on Friday afternoon, the Des Moines Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Section announced the arrest of 46-year-old Sharneeka Evans, also of Des Moines. Evans has been charged with First Degree Murder, a Class A felony, in connection with Hall’s death. Authorities stated that evidence suggests Evans used a pistol to shoot Hall, resulting in her death at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the events leading up to the deadly shooting.
