The New Windsor community is reeling after the tragic shooting death of Larome A. Johnson, 57, on Wednesday morning. The shooting, which occurred just before 9 a.m. on Hawthorn Way, is believed to be the result of a long-standing neighbor dispute. Johnson, a retired corrections officer and cancer survivor, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to Montefiore-St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities quickly arrested Thomas J. Crews, 47, at the scene and charged him with second-degree murder.
