With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Levi Evans, a dedicated firefighter, loving family man, and a true servant of the community from Tribune, Kansas. His passing has left a profound void, not only within Greeley County Fire and Rescue but also among the countless lives he touched through his bravery, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Levi’s life was a testament to selflessness. As a firefighter, he stood ready to face any challenge, always on the front lines with courage and commitment, no matter the hour. His dedication went beyond the fire service; he also served with the Greeley County Sheriff’s Office, earning the respect of both his colleagues and the community. To many, Levi was not just a colleague, but a leader, mentor, and brother.
Those who knew Levi will remember his passion for helping others and his natural ability to inspire. He led by example, instilling in others the importance of dedication, teamwork, and compassion. Whether he was working on department projects, like the new rescue truck he was excited about, or simply offering a listening ear, Levi gave everything to his work and relationships.
Above all, Levi was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to Adriana Evans and a proud father to his son, Guilherme Ty Evans. His family was his greatest pride and joy. He leaves behind a large, loving family, including his sisters Gabe N Jamie Smith, Daniela Veleta, Heather Marie Evans, Autumn Brinkman, and Synthia Preston; his mother, Synthia Preston; grandmothers Barb Carroll and Geraldine-Gene Preston; and many nieces, cousins, and extended family members who will forever hold his memory close.
Levi’s journey began at Dodge City Community College, where he laid the foundation for a life defined by service, integrity, and love. He was a trusted mentor, a great friend, and a man whose presence brought comfort and strength to everyone around him.
Though his time with us was far too short, Levi’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the community he served so faithfully. The fire service has lost one of its finest, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide.
Rest easy, Levi. Though your watch has ended, we will carry it forward. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
