Ruben Perez Obituary, Riverside, CA Death: In Loving Memory

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, the community of Riverside mourns the sudden and tragic passing of Ruben Perez, 52, who died early Tuesday morning, April 7, 2026, following an incident on Jones Avenue.

At approximately 5:54 a.m., Riverside Police officers responded to reports of a man walking in the roadway, shouting and throwing rocks at passing vehicles. Upon arrival, officers found Perez displaying erratic behavior in front of a residence and took him into custody without incident.

Shortly after his detention, Perez began experiencing a medical emergency. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and firefighter-paramedics from the Riverside Fire Department, Perez was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The Riverside Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit, alongside the Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigations Detail, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
