Ashley M. Faubert Obituary Otsego County Accident Death: Ashley M. Faubert Dies in Crash
A 29-year-old woman from Herkimer County, identified as Ashley M. Faubert, tragically passed away Friday night following a single-vehicle crash in Otsego County, according to New York State Police. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Route 22, just south of Butternut Road in the town of Richfield.
Faubert, a resident of Ilion, was traveling south when her vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, as no additional vehicles were involved, and Faubert was the sole occupant. The circumstances surrounding why the vehicle left the roadway remain unclear, with factors such as weather, road conditions, and mechanical issues yet to be determined.
Neighbors living near the crash site heard the impact and immediately rushed to assist. One emergency medical technician who lived nearby began administering CPR in an attempt to save Faubert’s life. Shortly thereafter, Otsego County EMS personnel arrived and continued life-saving efforts, transporting her to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Despite these efforts, Faubert was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Troopers from the Richfield Springs barracks responded to the scene, securing the area and beginning an investigation into the crash. The rural stretch of Route 22 where the incident occurred is known for its winding roads and limited lighting, which could present challenges for nighttime driving. However, authorities have not yet confirmed whether these conditions were a factor.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. Faubert’s untimely death serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictable dangers on the road, particularly at night.
