It is with heavy hearts that the Hooligan family and the community remember Staff Sgt. Daniel Putnam, a young and dedicated member of the North Dakota Air National Guard, whose untimely passing at the age of 21 has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.

Daniel passed away on April 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, responsibility, and dedication that touched the lives of family, friends, and fellow service members. Originally from Frazee, Minnesota, Daniel made Fargo his home, where he joined the 119th Wing in 2021. His dedication to his work and his unit quickly made him a respected figure among his peers.

As a Cyber Defense Operations Specialist with the 119th Operations Support Squadron, Daniel played a vital role in ensuring the security of communications that supported both state and national operations. While his work often took place behind the scenes, its impact was immeasurable. His focus, intelligence, and unwavering commitment made him a reliable and valued member of the team.

Daniel was not only a military professional but also a student with a bright future. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from North Dakota State University in 2025, a testament to his drive and discipline. His potential was limitless, and his passing leaves an unfulfilled promise in both his personal and professional life.

To his fellow Hooligans, Daniel was more than just a colleague—he was family. The bonds of military service run deep, and his absence is deeply felt. The love and respect Daniel earned will continue to be honored by his comrades and loved ones, who stand united in their grief.
