Misty Rose Williams Obituary, Nitro, WV Shooting, Death: Walmart Employee Shot Dead

A 40-year-old woman was found shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot in Nitro on Monday morning, prompting a homicide investigation and an arrest, authorities say.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Walmart Nitro Marketplace after coworkers became concerned when the woman did not return from her break. When officers arrived, they saw her unresponsive inside her vehicle and broke a rear window to gain access, finding she had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Misty Rose Williams, a Walmart employee.

Following an investigation, law enforcement identified Eric Dewayne Richmond, 54, as the suspect. Richmond, who shares children with Williams, was arrested and has been charged with first-degree murder.

Officials say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to gather more details.
